Google Glass For Dogs!

Google Glass is leading the wearable computing device innovation and has always been in the news since its announcement. It has had its fair share of controversy regarding privacy concerns too. However, we came across an interesting development; Google Glass team is working with Georgia Institute of Technology to develop a version of ?Google Glass? for dogs!

Just like the normal glass is currently attracting special type of humans (read nerds and geeks), this special Google glass is targeted at special working class dogs (bomb sniffing, cadaver). This new canine friendly Google Glass will make it easier to communicate with the dog handlers and in fact let them see through the dog?s eyes.

Thad Starner letchnical lead at Google Glass project has collaborated with researchers at the Georgia Institute to work on making Google Glass capable of assisting working dogs in their works. The project has been named FIDO (Facilitating Interactions for Dog with Occupations). The team is planning to train the targeted dogs to bite or activate a sensor in any other manner which will trigger the Google Glass to send information to the handler.

Google Glass is still under closed beta with only few lucky (and wealthy) ones have got the device for testing. We are not expecting a public release of the Google Glass before 2014.
